Love, Style, Life by Garance Dore

Monday, 25 January 2016

I love a good style book and I am now amassing quite a collection...

Winter is a great time to invest in these lovely coffee table books for a little bit of escapism when the weather outside is rubbish and the new Spring collections haven't yet hit the shops.

Love, Style, Life is by Garance Dore a fashion and style blogger who was born in Corsica but has a huge love and affection for  New York and Parisian style.

I initially discovered Garance via her blog which is beautifully illustrated and covers all topics, ranging from fashion and style through to recipes and travel. The main thing I love about her writing is that not only is it accessible and as though she is speaking to you like a friend the content is completely accessible. As you read, you understand Garance's heritage, her influences and also the journey it has taken to achieve her impressive blogger status. The content is beautiful but unpretentious which aids inspiration in the reader rather than envy.

Her new book, entitled Love, Style, Life is much of the same but feels even more personal with it's diary style entries focusing on topics such as 'My Style' which chronologically goes through her style choices and what influenced her choices, whether that be rock and roll or a particular love interest.

Helpful sections such as 'How to look good in a photo' are mixed in with more reflective pieces such as '100 love lessons' that over a cup of tea made me reflect on my own life. This book is so much more than a frivolous fashion read, from a blogger who builds on her style and fashion platform to talk about what it's really like to be a woman today and how to navigate everything from facing failure to finding love and everything in between.

If you are looking for a gorgeous book that has real depth and content with style and fashion thrown in I highly recommend, you can purchase here.
