Mavala Garden Party Nails

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

I am starting to sit up and take notice of ingredients in make up and skin care.

I don't know if this has been driven by my impending birthday or if it's just the level of publicity regarding chemical content in products we put on our skin everyday.

Any how, I currently read a brilliant blog by Kris Carr called Crazy Sexy Wellness is considering the chemical content in products, the impact these could possibly have on our body and whether there are alternatives that are still gorgeous but are also better for your health. This link specifically focuses on nail polish http://kriscarr.com/blog-video/vote-for-best-non-toxic-nail-polish/

On doing a little bit of research I have discovered one of my favourite brands Mavala is 3 Free, the 3 being Toluene, Formaldehyde and Phthalates.

So of course this led to a little buy and with the new Mavala Garden Party collection being so gorgeous it was hard to choose just one!
But I obviously managed ;) here is Hortensia or Blamanche as I have renamed it.

Really pretty punchy but pastel pink shade, that is thick in consistency and pretty chip proof. The only negative is that on first application the shade is slightly lighter which I preferred - however a pretty shade regardless and a great alternative to nude nails.

Sadly, my research revealed that no nail varnish is actually a completely 'healthy' alternative as what makes nail varnish, glossy, highly pigmented and chip proof is those pesky chemicals, so fingers crossed for even better formulas in the future!
