2015 Make Up Bag

Tuesday, 13 January 2015

Hey Peeps,

I thought as I was having a make up bag clear out I would share what made the cut and why.

My old make up bag had seen better days and all of my other make up bags were too big, so until I find a suitable replacement I am using this H&M lips travel bag which I thought was perfectly themed for Valentines day :)

So onto the contents..

Clockwise from the top...

Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Sticks

These sticks are fab, I have the two shown, Seashell and Rose Gold. I use Seashell as a brow highlighter and Rose Gold on the eye lid. The formula is smooth and blendable but once set has pretty good staying power.
I do have a Bobbi Brown stick version and as much as I hate to say it, they just aren't as good. I struggled to build up the colour and there was an element of flaking. The consistency of the Laura Mercier product is gorgeous and they certainly deserve caviar in their title :) Perfect for lazy make up days and those who struggle with a smokey eye.

Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara

I know you should never judge on size, but this wand is huge and just screams volume with its big bold bristles! I love the impact this mascara makes and the formula is thick without resulting in clumpy lashes. It also has minimal flaking and transferring - it is expensive at £19.50 but it has certainly become a staple and with many high street mascaras now over £10 this is worth the investment.

Mac Sheen Supreme Lipstick - Phosphorescent

It's dreary outside and I've packed this as a bit of a perk me up product. It is a bright but sheer coral pink which has a lovely shine perfect for work or weekend wear. I love the Sheen Supreme formula as I'm not overly keen on lipglosses and this gives the shine without the stickyness!

Benefit Fine One One

I LOVE this product, on my pale complexion this shade is absolutely perfect. The combination of the three shades gives a lovely depth to the colour and it is ridiculously easy to apply. My only complaint is that the consistency of the highlighting shade is denser than the blush shades which gives a bit of an uneven application, but as a blush it is perfectly gorgeous.

Topshop Glow Stick in Play Up

This leads to my current highlighter, ok so this relationship started badly when I opened the packaging and the whole stick flew into my lap. I also realised not only was it broken but the amount of money for the amount of product was poor. Luckily, once I had reassembled I realised the shade was this lovely pale champagne and it gave warmth as well as highlighting.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder

What can I say about this product that no   other blogger has all ready praised. I love it, especially at weekends and on a night out. Generally I don't wear it day to day as I prefer a more dewy look but for a glam flawless more 'done' look this is essential.

So that is my current essentials :) but I am sure this won't last much beyond March!
