Jewellery with Soul and a Story - Bill Skinner

Thursday, 31 July 2014

I love jewellery, particularly hand crafted, individually designed pieces that feel like they have been crafted with a story in mind.

A place that is a haven for select and special brands is the V&A museum who house a wide range of jewellery brands as well as one of my personal favourites Bill Skinner.

His jewellery is bold, romantic and beautiful in the purest sense of the word. It is not heavily encrusted or ostentatious but bold in emotion and composition. The craftsmanship in his pieces is what drew me to admire them in the first place, the metal work carved and sculpted which is I suppose to be expected from a man that trained with Asprey and Van Cleef and Arpels before going on to work with Vivienne Westwood and Butler and Wilson.

In my own little collection I own the cherub ring below, my husband bought it for me before my son was born and although the piece is a striking gold and unusual prominent style it looks equally chic with a white sun dress as it does with a black polo neck in winter. I adore it.

I was kindly invited to the opening of the Bill Skinner Tenterden shop and I was saddened I couldn't attend, however Bill's team have kindly shared with me some exclusive images from the next collection and I have included my favourite piece from spring/summer 2014 as this collection is still available.

On my personal wish list will be this beautiful tiger necklace and ring

However, if you are intrigued by past and current collections the Bill Skinner website is currently featuring a summer sale including this wonderful bell jar necklace below.
