Hanbury Manor, A Marriott Hotel and Country Club

Tuesday, 28 January 2014

Hi Pretty Peeps,
We are almost out of January hurrah!
My final resolution for January was to take a little more time out for me and I was really fortunate to be invited to Hanbury Manor, A Marriott Hotel & Country Club for an Afternoon Tea Spa Day* to enjoy a glorious massage and sumptuous afternoon tea

Hanbury Manor is a beautiful Jacobean Mansion snuggled in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside but handily very near the A10 and luckily for me - my house.

I have been to Hanbury Manor several times before, a sparkly New Years Eve with my best friend, for a romantic night away and most importantly I held my wedding at Hanbury Manor in 2010.

There is something about Hanbury Manor that makes me want to return, it is decadent of course, but what Hanbury Manor has that many prestigious hotels lack is an inviting, warm, home like ambience that makes you feel at ease as soon as you check in.

I arrived on a blustery Tuesday morning, frazzled from playing mum, manager and wife, I was touched when showed to the spa, I found a welcome gift to help me enjoy my time there. I don't know about you but I love Decleor products and the spa team had also included some hints and tips on using the products whilst at the spa - genius!

Relax over looking the pool...

The titled Relaxation Area...

The spa itself is serene and calm, fellow guests chatted quietly in the relaxation area and the staff were welcoming and happy to help.

The massage with the lovely Abbie was superb, she tailored the massage to my preferences and went through all of the products she would be using - the apricot and peach kernel oil was divine and her technique and pressure faultless.

The treatment rooms are also well thought out and clear of bad art, twig flower arrangements etc, they also aren't overly clinical which I have previously found off putting. My other spa phobia includes irritating whale/pan pipe music played during a treatment - thankfully Hanbury's gentle instrumental music created a light background noise which enabled me to relax and let my mind drift.

They have a wide range of treatments and some awesome brands to choose from including Jessica, Decleor and Phyto.

On leaving the treatment room I of course throughly enjoyed the jacuzzi and swimming pool before getting ready for afternoon tea. Although, to be honest I was so relaxed I could have fitted in a little nap...

Afternoon Tea at Hanbury Manor

Afternoon tea at Hanbury Manor has the right balance between decadent and unpretentious, the environment elaborate but with a relaxed air. The service was not at all over overbearing and the staff made me feel at ease and laughed with me as I debated milk in Lady Grey tea - to add or not to add??

Pink champagne

All I can say is the sandwiches, scones, champagne, mini tarts, meringues, chocolate cup were delicious, there was so much I could not even sample it all...

I shall let the pictures above do the talking....

At the end of the tea and as I drove along the drive surrounded by woodland and the golf course, I thought 'what a magical place and aren't I lucky to have you on my doorstep'.
